Mid Year Freak Out Tag 2!

Hello!

Some of you might remember that in August last year, I participated in the Mid Year Freak Out Tag. Well, it’s making a return this year!

Thank you so much to Ceri @ Read And Review It for tagging me in this tag, after I tagged her last year. If you haven’t already read Ceri’s blog, then where have you been? Despite having only started blogging in May last year, her blog has grown massively – you should definitely check it out if you haven’t already!

This tag was originally created by Chami.

If I’m going to be honest, I have read a grand total of…… *drumroll please* …… 4 books! And, *in the small print* ………. one of those was a re-read ……… so I’ve only actually read 3 ……….

But it’s ok though, if there’s one thing that us book bloggers can do, it’s taking a small detail about a book and expanding on it to our heart’s content, so that’s what I’m going to do now!

Please note that I have edited the questions slightly to avoid repeating myself, so if you do this tag, please take the questions from Ceri’s site!!

So, without further ado, here is my *slightly edited* Mid Year Freak Out Tag . . .

Best Book/Sequel You Have Read So Far in 2021?

It would have to be As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson! It really was the perfect end to an incredible series, and it could not have haunted me more! It was a book that I couldn’t believe at first – I knew what Pip was about to do, but I never actually thought that she would have done everything that she did.

New Release You Have Not Read Yet, But Want To?

The Appeal by Janice Hallett! As detailed in my June Book Haul post, I was recommended this book by a bookseller in Waterstones and I cannot wait to read it (I know it was published nearly a year ago, but it counts as a new release for the purposes of this tag!)!

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half of 2021

Nothing More to Tell by Karen M. McManus! I’ve always loved McManus’ books since I read One of Us is Lying in 2017 (my first ever Young Adult book!), and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.

Biggest Disappointment/Surprise?

The fact that I’ve only read 4 books so far. *Again, in small print* …….. that’s how much I usually read in a month ……….

Favourite New Author?

Ok, so not *technically* this year, but the back end of 2021 does, right?! I read The Yearbook by Holly Bourne in December 2021, and I fell in love with her writing, and I loved it so much, I just started It Only Happens in the Movies!

Newest Favourite Character?

After reading As Good As Dead, Pip is definitely up there with my favourite characters!

Book That Made You Happy?

You’ll Be the Death of Me! It was such a thrilling read, which made me very happy!

Favourite Book to Movie Adaptation You Saw This Year?

Dear Evan Hansen! I loved the book and the musical’s songs (the 3 or 4 of them that I can confidently say that I know!), and it was lovely seeing the book being brought to life on the big screen.

Favourite Post You Have Written This Year?

Well, when I did this post last year, I was considering the 49 posts that I had already written, and thinking of which were my favourites to write (“Anything and everything Blonde Bitch related” took the #1 spot!). This year, that task is made somewhat easier because, at the time of writing, I have published a grand total of…… *drumroll please* ………. 3 posts!

However, my First Lines Friday post from last week was a really exciting one to write, as it was the first since being back and it really reminded me how much I love blogging, and how good it was to be back!

Most Beautiful Book You Have Bought This Year?

I’ve only bought 3 books this year and I can’t possibly choose which is the most beautiful – have a look and see if you can decide!

What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of the Year?

  • It Only Happens In The Movies
  • The Appeal
  • All Your Twisted Secrets
  • Fated
  • The Lighthouse: The Mystery of the Eilean Mor Lighthouse Keepers
  • Blood and Roses
  • Cinder
  • My Plain Jane
  • The Mysterious Affair at Styles
  • The Hate U Give

And a reflection on last year’s ‘books I need to read by the end of the year’ . . .

  1. Noughts and Crosses – YES
  2. An Eye for An Eye – YES
  3. Callum – YES
  4. Knife Edge – YES
  5. Checkmate – YES
  6. Double Cross – YES
  7. Nought Forever – YES
  8. Cross Fire – YES
  9. Endgame – YES
  10. She-Wolves – YES

Tagging:

Just like Ceri, I’d like to tag the person who tagged me last year – Hassan’s Book Corner.

If you’d like to have a go at this tag, please do – let me know and I’ll check out your post!

Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned in this post? Let me know what you thought about them in the comments!

Thank you for reading this post.
