It’s so lovely to be back in the blogging world after my hiatus this year – I’ve got so many ideas for posts, and I can’t wait to share them with you all!
Now, I know that you never need an excuse or a reason to buy books, but having finished my A-Levels in the past week, buying books seemed like the perfect way to celebrate!
I bought three books and they are . . .
It Only Happens in the Movies – Holly Bourne
Bad boys turned good, kisses in the rain, climbing through bedroom windows . . .
IT ONLY HAPPENS IN THE MOVIES
When Audrey meets Harry, it’s the start of a truly cinematic romance – or is it?
Audrey knows that Harry is every movie cliché rolled into one. But she still chooses to let him into her heart . . .
Thoughts? – I loved The Yearbook when I read it at the end of 2021, and I’ve been eyeing up this book for a while, so I seized my chance when it was on the bookshelf in-store!
The Appeal – Janice Hallett
Can You Uncover The Truth?
There is a mystery to solve in the small town of Lockwood. It starts with the arrival of two secretive newcomers, and ends with a tragic death. Roderick Tanner QC has assigned law students Charlotte and Femi to the case. Someone has already been sent to prison for murder, but he suspects that they are innocent. And that far darker secrets have yet to be revealed . . .
Throughout the amateur dramatics society’s disastrous staging of All My Sons and the shady charity appeal for a little girl’s medical treatment, the murdere hid in plain sight. Will Charlotte and Femi solve the case? Will you?
Thoughts? – This book was recommended to me by one of the lovely booksellers in-store, and I can’t wait to read it already! I love the fact that it’s told entirely through correspondence, and that I have to try and work out who the murderer is – these were definitely two of the main selling-points for me!
All Your Twisted Secrets – Diana Urban
“WELCOME TO DINNER, AND AGAIN, CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING SELECTED. NOW YOU MUST DO THE SELECTING.”
What do the Queen bee, star, athlete, valedictorian, stoner, loner, and music geek all have in common? They were all invited to a scholarship dinner, only to discover it’s a trap. Someone has locked them in a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison, and a note saying they have an hour to pick someone to kill . . . or else everyone dies.
Amber Prescott is determined to get her classmates and herself out of the room alive, but that might be easier said than done. No one knows how they’re all connected or who would want them dead. As they retrace the events over the past year that might have triggered their captor’s ultimatum, it becomes clear that everyone is hiding something. And with the clock ticking down, confusion turns into fear, and fear morphs into panic as they race to answer the biggest question: Who will they choose to die?
Thoughts? – This book has been on my TBR for a long time now, and like with It Only Happens in the Movies, I took my chance when I saw it in-store! I’ve always loved mysteries, but this one seems to be completely different to any that I have read before, which is really exciting!
What do you think of my book haul? Have you read any of these books? Have you recently had a book haul? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you for reading this post.
