January (GARNET): Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies – Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.
Although many book villains sprung to mind for this question, I’ve decided on the Lorders from Teri Terry’s Slated series. I really disliked the Lorders throughout the whole series, especially as their actions were gradually uncovered, which built up the tension to a point where I wanted to read on, but at the same time, I was too scared to!
February (AMETHYST):Purple is associated with royalty – Name a book with regal qualities
In Blonde Bitch, Bonnaire Prep’s monarchy is so central to everything in the story. As described in my review here, I loved how everything was in some way linked to the monarchy that Ivy was so desperate to rule again. I also felt that each character had their own regal qualities, both linked to their monarchical and their personal lives.
March (AQUAMARINE): Washed out – Name a ‘wishy washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower
The first characters that came to mind were Nesta and Elain from A Court of Thorns and Roses. I never really understood these two characters to the extent that I understood others in the series, so it is possible that I missed some details about them that others did pick up on.
April (DIAMOND): A diamond in the rough – Name a book that you loved but is not well known
I loved My Lady Jane, but I’ve seen so little of this book on social media in comparision to other books. It’s a comedy retelling of Lady Jane Grey’s story, which I really enjoyed reading.
May (EMERALD): Said to balance energy – Name two characters who balance each other well
For this question, I’m saying Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong from Murder Most Unladylike. Throughout the whole series, they were always bouncing off each other with ideas, whether as part of a murder investigation or not, and I couldn’t imagine one character without the other.
June (PEARL): Associated with loyalty – Name a character who is loyal to the end
Without spoiling Rebel, I’d say that Day and June were both loyal throughout the Legend series, whether to their jobs, or to other important things. I loved reading about their story throughout the series, and I feel that Rebel perfectly summed up and completed their story.
July (RUBY): Blood red – Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry
The ending of The Book Thief was so unexpected, to the point where I was in disbelief and in denial that it had happened!
August (PERIDOT): Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems) – Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character
I don’t think that this will come as a surprise, as I haven’t heard of many people whose favourite Harry Potter character is Harry Potter! My favourite Harry Potter character is Hermione, but in 2nd place is Rowena Ravenclaw, the founder of my Hogwarts house!
September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming – Name a book that had a calming affect on you
The Sun is Also a Star was a perfect read for me. I loved every aspect of it, and there was nothing that I wanted to be changed about it. Also, when I finished it, I was so happy with the ending, which made a change to me usually internally screaming at at least one character when I finish a book!
October (OPAL): Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover (Shiny? Lots of color?) or you can base it off of a character (Quirky? Colorful?)
My shiniest books are the Ink series by Alice Broadway. The front, back, and spines are coloured foil, which looks really pretty on my bookshelf!
November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience – Name a books with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity
This is hard to explain without spoiling the book, but Maddy had everything against her, yet she still tried to do everything that she was capable of, even if she wasn’t strictly meant to. I really liked Maddy as a character, as well as her relationship with Ollie and with the other characters in Everything, Everything.
December (BLUE ZIRCON): Associated with friendship – Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of
As described in my review of The Conference of the Birds, I love the friendship between each of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children. If I was a Peculiar, I would love to be a part of this, and to take part in their amazing adventures together!
YOU! If I haven’t tagged you and you’d like to take part, then I tag you!
Thank you for reading this post.
